RULES SPECIFIC TO 'RED FLAG' LOCATIONS AS AT AUGUST 2007

The Red Flag locations as identified by Amazing Spaces and the Film Office are as follows:

Constantia
Constantia Hills
Bishops Court
Camps Bay (areas of)
Plattekloof (areas of)
Llandudno

Please note the rules below specific to these areas are as follows:

Times on Set:

The bylaw for shooting in residential areas states that crew may not arrive on location before 06h00 and may not leave later than 22h00 HOWEVER some locations you have to leave set by 8pm. Please enquire about the location you're interested in. This applies to all stills shoot and film shoots.

In the Red Flag locations, this still applies, with the following exceptions/ conditions for film shoots or large stills shoots:

Day shoot: (within bylaw of 6am and 10pm in residential areas)
It is the responsibility of the Production Company to advise neighbours within a 500m radius a minimum of 48 hours before the shoot by means of a letter drop.

Extended day shoot: (within the bylaw start time of 6am but until 12 midnight)
The Film Office have advised that in residential areas, but particularly in the red flag areas the Production Company must get signed concurrence from all the residents affected within a 500m radius of the location. This must be done at least 48 hours before the shoot date in order to obtain your permit from the Film Office.

Night Shoot: (any shoot extending beyond midnight)
A night shoot is not advisable as the Film Office, as per the above, is requesting signed concurrence within a 500m radius. In our experience, concurrence is very difficult to obtain.

Vehicles allowed on set:

On weekdays, the 3 x truck rule applies in the “red Flag” areas (as identified above). On weekends, the 3 x truck rules with signed concurrence applies. Please stick to the permit issued in terms of vehicles on set.

Base Camps

Due to the restrictions above with regard to the number of vehicles on set, Amazing Spaces has identified suitable locations for base camps / parking of private vehicles for the “Red Flag” areas. Please liaise with us in this regard.

Green belts

The green belts in Constantia and Constantia Hills are particularly sensitive, and although shoots/ base camps have been allowed on the green belts in the past, the restrictions applied by the Film Office due to neighbourhood complaints are limiting. We would guard against using green belts as base camps as far as possible. Chat to your Amazing Spaces consultant with regard to base camps/ green belt usage and we will assist or advise where we can.

Letter Drop

All locations within a 50m radius if a normal day shoot are to receive a letter drop 48 hours before the shoot (for film shoots or large stills shoots) in order to receive your permit from the Film Office. Extended shoots and night shoots require signed concurrence in order to get your permit from the Film Office. In your letter drop, please advise neighbours of ALL the dynamics involved, ACTUAL arrival time on set, and REALISTIC predicted departure times.
